The winner of this NFT auction will receive the NFT and the physical varsity jacket signed by Dap himself that will be owned by only you and Dapper Dan.

All proceeds from the auction will be donated to the benefit of Fifteen Percent Pledge, Inc. through its fiscal sponsor, Philanthropic Ventures Foundation.

The Fifteen Percent Pledge is a nonprofit organization working with major retailers and Black entrepreneurs to close the racial wealth gap.

Gap Threads celebrates Demit Omphroy's first ever NFT collection, featuring specific experiences encountered on his journey through life.

"Flowers of Life" is a short story that features a figure planting flower seeds in their garden. As time passes, the flowers grow, nature comes into play, and the story continues in a looping cycle.

"Flowers of Life" represents the self-love that we put into our own lives on a daily basis. We carefully plant the seeds which represent goals we would like to manifest. As they grow and develop over the course of time, we learn about ourselves in different ways. This is a common theme throughout all of the NFT artwork in the Gap x demit series. It reflects the ongoing process of working on ourselves throughout all stages of life. We don’t forget our past, but rather evolve into better versions of ourselves, always allowing there to be space for something new to blossom.

This is the reason why we need to continue planting these Flowers of Life.

"Slow Dance" while at first glance displays two figure dancing together, further represent the slow pace it takes to build a stronger bond. At first there is an apprehension between the two, a step towards and away from each other which could represent fear, doubt, or the unknown.

As they take a step closer, together, they allow themselves to be open to love even if it means they are exposed to being hurt; a testament of taking the leap of faith together. The slow dance of life with another is the natural growth of love between two people.

"Your Parade" represent the multiple sides we all have to ourselves. We are able to lead with heads high, but sometimes leaning too deep into one of our personalities could hide other amazing characters we have inside. "Your Parade" celebrates all the different personalities we have inside which make us that much more unique as individuals.

"I do" represents the beauty of love and marriage in a playful way. On one end, there is the spontaneity of the proposal - a shot in the dark where one person hopes the other says "YES!" On the other end, some things are actually completely planned out, down to the pre-picked out engagement ring that is presented on the proposal day. So, the question in the back and forth of the ring tossing becomes, "Who proposes to who?" 

The beauty in all of this is that the object of the ring becomes less important, but rather, the forever bond with the other person. "I do" stands for forever with another individual. It’s the forever commitment to your soulmate, no matter how you get there.

The figures in "Love, Nurture, Growth" from bottom to top, include a boat rapidly coming down stream, a playful flower, a couple trying to stay grounded, three floating figures tending to flowers in a vase, a larger figure holding the Sun, and a figure riding a cloud in and out of the frame.

"Love, Nurture, Growth" represents different stages of life from a day-to-day perspective, to lessons that span across a lifetime. The artwork acknowledges how quickly each day passes, represented by the boat coming down stream over and over. As we find love and try to hold on to it, we must remember to have fun and smile along the way. This steps into the next stage of nurture which means tending to the relationships with others and ourselves: a necessity to grow a fruitful life. As we approach the final stage of the figure holding the Sun, this represents our growth. As we love and nurture, we also must continue to grow and develop. This is the cycle of life we all go through.

The figure in "Behind the Flower" holds up a flower to shield their face but unintentionally allows it to fall. It is a recurring action of feeling exposed to the world, and for a second, people are finally able to see your true colors.

"Behind the Flower" acknowledges vulnerability, a scary feeling when people see what lies behind the initial layer of a person. However, there is also a sense of empowerment and liberation going throughout life being true to yourself.
